Farnham exterior with hardwood repairs

The Challenge

The side panels to the top windows had all rotted because they were never sealed behind when first installed ten years ago, letting the weather in and causing damp. The window bars had also become rotten in places, and all the caulk on the tongue and groove had failed.

Our Solution (Process & Materials)

We did the exact same job next door the year before, so we knew how to deal with the problems. The old panels came out and were replaced completely, painted and correctly protected on both sides. The rotten window bars were replaced in hardwood rather than the original softwood, and the failed caulk was cut out and new applied correctly. Finished in Sandstone.

The Result

The second of the four houses down this road we’ve restored - houses Nick personally thinks are beautiful, and the Sandstone colour really works on them.
