Old windows, saved.
Sash windows, sills, soffits and fascias brought back from the brink - splice repairs, resin systems and correct sealing, usually for far less than replacement.
Hampshire is full of beautiful old windows sitting behind failed paint and soft sills - and most of them can be saved rather than replaced.
What restoration involves
- Assessment - we find every soft spot, failed joint and broken seal before quoting, so the quote covers the real job.
- Rot removal - failed timber cut back to sound wood; nothing painted over.
- Rebuild - new timber spliced in (hardwood where softwood failed), or Repair Care resin systems where a splice is not practical.
- Sills, soffits and fascias - poorly repaired sills redone properly, fascias and guttering lines made good.
- Finish and seal - primed, painted in a proper exterior system, and sealed so the weather stays out.
Recent restoration work
A stone gatehouse with rotten windows and failed frame-to-stone sealant, restored end to end. Sash windows, sills and fascias for a returning customer, where earlier botched repairs had to be made good first. And window restorations across Petersfield that we are proud to walk past years later.
Who it is for
Owners of period or character property who want to keep original windows and timber rather than jump to replacement. Also anyone whose sills, fascias or soffits are failing and need a proper repair before the next coat of paint.
What affects the price
- Extent of rot and how many units need splicing or resin
- Sash work versus casements, sills, fascias and soffits
- Access and whether stone or unusual detailing is involved
- Paint system and how much making-good previous repairs need
Restoration is usually far cheaper than replacement - confirmed on a free written quote after we have seen the frames. Request a survey.
Free written quote. Nick surveys the job himself, then sends an itemised fixed price. No obligation - and if we are not right for it, we will say so.

Window & Timber Restoration across the patch

Window & Timber Restoration: your questions
Is it cheaper to restore windows or replace them?
Restoration is usually far cheaper - and on period properties it preserves the character (and sometimes the planning compliance) that replacement uPVC destroys. We cut out rot, splice in new timber or use resin repair systems, and reseal correctly.
How do you repair a rotten window sill?
We cut back to sound timber, then either splice in a new section of matching timber or rebuild with a specialist resin system, depending on the extent. The repair is primed, painted and sealed so water cannot get back in - fixing the cause, not just the symptom.
Do you restore windows on listed or period buildings?
Yes. Much of our restoration work is on period property - stone-set windows, sash windows, gatehouses and older buildings around Petersfield and Hampshire - keeping the original character intact.
